Tales of Hadlow Part 1

In 1978 Hadlow Cottage was little more than a gardener’s bothy with a derelict greenhouse and overgrown orchard.  By 1988 the cottage had been rebuilt and the greenhouse made into a lean-too shelter. By 1998 lighting had been added and then in 2000 Orchard shelter had been re-glazed, the floor renewed and a sink added Tales of Hadlow Part 1

All Change in Orchard Shelter

Even though our much loved campsite is closed to visitors our team of contractors have been busy over the last 4 weeks going one by one to continue the improvements to Orchard Shelter. We now have new double glazing installed across the front windows of the shelter which has completely opened up the space and All Change in Orchard Shelter

Spring has arrived

After a very wet and windy start to 2020 spring has finally arrived at Hadlow.  The snowdrops and daffodils are in flower across the site along with the first blossom from the crab apple trees.   We’ve welcomed volunteers from Wallasey and West Divisions over the last two months who’ve been tackling the ivy that Spring has arrived

Hadlow Hamper for 2019

We are pleased to confirm that our Hadlow Jamming Elves have been hard at work all summer so our Hadlow Hampers are now ready to order just in time for Christmas. There are some new things to try this year as well as the old favourites but as ever we have a limited number of Hadlow Hamper for 2019

All Weather June!

Well June seems to have been a month of two halves at Hadlow this year! Guide Camps had to be cancelled due to the very very heavy rain that soaked the north west at the start of June but I’m please to report that the site coped really well.  The heavy rains have certainly helped All Weather June!

May – A busy Month!

May has been a very busy month at Hadlow Fields as the camping season got underway and the fairies moved back in after their winter holidays. June looks even busier as we look forward to welcoming Deeside and Birkenhead Division members for their take over weeks. Girls will be getting to grips with activities from the May – A busy Month!

Adventure Playground – Improvements

We are pleased to announce that all work has been completed on our popular Adventure Playground.  The original equipment installed over 20 years ago has been removed and replaced with new elements from the Sovereign Playgrounds ‘Hide and Seek’ trail range which complements the existing pieces that were installed for our centenary celebration. HMLR – Land Girls!

It was blue skies and sunshine all day as we welcomed the ladies (oh and a couple of guys) of HM Land Registry Birkenhead Office to Hadlow Fields for their volunteering day in recognition of International Women’s Day. The team of volunteers got their day started with relocating the main site woodpile from its temporary HMLR – Land Girls!

Spring Time at Hadlow

With the snowdrops and daffodils in the full bloom at Hadlow spring has definitely arrived. We’ve had a busy few weeks planting the initial delivery of new tree’s as part of our ’40 Trees for Hadlow’s 40th Birthday’. Our next planting day will be Saturday 16th March 10am – 2pm and again on Saturday April Spring Time at Hadlow
