Tipis

Having won the 2008 General Motors, Griffin Award, Girlguiding Wirral are the proud owners of a selection of different styles of tipis, including 2 with charcoal braziers for added luxury and out of season camping!

These Tipis are available for use by Girlguiding Units only.

The Festy tent only takes about 15 minutes to put up, and has plenty of standing room inside. Originally designed as a one-pole tent, it can also be a two pole suspended tent. Have a look at the pictures to the right to see the different styles of pitching.  The Festy will easily sleep 5/6 guides and stores all their kit too. At the top of the tent is a large open vent with a rotating (manual) canvas cowl. This helps to cool the tent in summer, the cowl can be turned according to the wind direction.

The Soul Pad 5000 Tribe sleep up to 8 guides and stores all their kit or it is ideal as an activity tipi being able to seat 15 girls.  It’s made from a cotton canvas fly with sewn-in bath tub style groundsheet, 5m diameter, 1.85m entrance and 3.5m at centre. There is a large vent at the top which can be used to exit the SoulPad Blaze-tribeflue, or simply to vent the tent. You can also hire coir matting for the tent and a Blaze wood burning stove with flue that vents out of the top of the tent.  If you are planning to use the Blaze wood burning stove then this needs to be under adult supervision at all times.

All tents come with pitching instructions but help is available with pitching but please ask for this at the time of booking.

As these are canvas tents they must be throughly dried before being packed away.  If you have a wet strike please speak to your warden about the best options but it is likely you will need to return to the site to pack the tent away once it has throughly dried out.
