All Weather June!

All Weather June!

Well June seems to have been a month of two halves at Hadlow this year!

Guide Camps had to be cancelled due to the very very heavy rain that soaked the north west at the start of June but I’m please to report that the site coped really well.  The heavy rains have certainly helped all the new hedging and trees that have been planted across the site.  As June finished and July came in so the weather improved with long sunny days and evenings just in time for the ‘take over weeks’ of Deeside and Birkenhead Divisions.

A big thank you to all the leaders, girls and parents who supported these weeks. The girls enjoyed the fairy trail, the new den building kit, camp fires, the improved adventure playground and even managed to complete some skill builder challenges too.  We’ve also welcome Ellesmere Port Division for an activity evening and West Division for activity day and over night camp.

Our Hamper Team have been busy too with jam and chutney making over recent weeks and the famous Hadlow Damson Gin and the new Damson Port are both in production ready for Saturday 7th December 2019 which will be the collection day for orders.  Order forms will be out at the beginning of September.

A big thanks also goes to all the volunteers from Ellesmere Port Division who rolled up their sleeves on Saturday to clear out behind all the wooden sheds and then paint them ready for the winter.  They’re all looking very smart now!

As we still have all the camp site shelters to paint we are holding an August Working Party on Saturday August 3rd from 9.30am until 3pm with the hope of getting all shelters painted (weather allowing!) and we also plan to re-level the flags in front of the Ice House.  They’ll be plenty of drinks, snacks and lunch will be provided. Everyone is welcome and there will be many other jobs to tackle.
