May – A busy Month!

May has been a very busy month at Hadlow Fields as the camping season got underway and the fairies moved back in after their winter holidays. June looks even busier as we look forward to welcoming Deeside and Birkenhead Division members for their take over weeks. Girls will be getting to grips with activities from the Have Adventures and Camp Skill Builders as well as trying out our new den building kit – more details to follow on how units can hire this new resource.

Bookings for the Fairy Trail are flying in with June fully booked but we still have space across the summer and don’t forget the fairies don’t disappear for their winter holiday until the end of October.  Word has spread in the fairy community about Hadlow Fields Fairy Village so new houses have been constructed and a new area of land is under development for next year.

Those of you who have seen the changes up at the Adventure Playground will have noticed the installation of a new bench in memory of Jane Bartlett. The perfect place to sit and reflect.  We also welcomed family members and guiding friends of  Margaret Clarkson-Halbert to Hadlow for afternoon tea and campfire where many fond guiding memories were shared. Those attending planted 150 native english primroses outside the Gate House and her niece Helen planted a Beech Tree on Nuthatch Campsite as this was Margaret’s favourite site at Hadlow.

We’ve also been busy planting more of the sponsored tree and many hedge saplings across the campsite.  So if you happen to be camping at Hadlow across the summer please spare a few moments to water any new trees or hedging on your camp site.
